A mid century oak bookcase / cabinet made by G Plan (E-Gomme) as part of their modular "Brandon" range. 
 
It's got sliding doors to the bottom with a cupboard. Above there is a large area, perfect for those bigger books, bottles or decorative items which just won't fit anywhere else!
 
There are some pre-drilled holes to the sides. These are likely from when it was used as a modular unit with others from the range. They could be easily hidden when in use and are not hugely noticeable when viewed from the front.
