Mid century teak White & Newton dining table
A mid century teak extending dining table made by Portsmouth based White & Newton in the late 1960s-early 1970s.
Featuring very clean lines this table is a classic example of danish-inspired British modernist design. The body is crafted using the darker Afromosia teak, with its oval shaped legs which give the appearance of cutting through the side stretchers. The rectangular top is in lighter teak, banded with a strip of darker teak and tapered at the edges to soften the angular look.
The table extends considerably in length from it's compact form with large middle leaves which fold out, making it a practical piece for smaller spaces which need to host more people occasionally.
This piece has been extensively refurbished after living a hard, but fulfilling life with one owner from new. Tables are supposed to be used and this one certainly has been! We love the stories behind our pieces and some of these stories remain embedded within the finish (such as the fine scratches visible and some small indentations to the side stretchers), however it's still looking pretty amazing for it's age.
It's been a labour of love for us and now it's time for it to be enjoyed by another owner for another 50 years!
The price also includes free shipping to most mainland UK locations as standard.
