Vintage wooden British Rail sign (black and white)
A vintage black and white wooden British Rail sign.
Handmade by a hobbyist, we love that someone has taken the love and care to make this in their spare time.
It is of course a replica of the famous double arrow logo designed by Gerry Barney in the 1960s, as a way of symbolising the modernisation of the nationalised post-war British Railways network. The logo was one of the important symbols of a modernised post-war Britain, and is thought to reference two tracks and a set of points, although this can also be interpreted as two arrows. It’s an iconic piece of modernist design which naturally fits in with our mid century aesthetic!
The shapes aren’t perfectly cut or painted, and this makes us love it even more. This could be a unique piece of artwork for your wall or just chilling on the floor or some shelves, and you definitely won’t find any like it.
The price also includes free shipping to most mainland UK locations as standard.
